Set into the hill behind the original 18th century gamekeeper's cottage, the new structure is split into three sections stepping down and out towards the lake, appearing from the footpath behind to be a series of drystone walls enclosing meadows.
The honey coloured concrete complements the original Cotswold stone of the cottage, and the new building is clad in the same local stone but expressed as a dry stone wall a construction technique pre-dating the older building.
The house was awarded an RIBA National Award in 2012, and in the same year was runner up in the RIBA Manser Medal for best house.
